  • 7. To what extent do the last three UK general elections suggest electoral reform is not needed?
  • 8. Does the 2017 general election strengthen Britain’s two-party system?
  • 9. With reference to two countries, to what extent is liberal democracy strengthened by popular participation?

Competition Rules

a) Essays must be original and produced by the candidate who submits it (plagiarism is illegal!).

b) All essays must be submitted by Friday 4th July 2014.

c) Essays must be 2000-3000 words, typed with double spacing with bibliography and end/footnotes. Font size 12 in Times New Roman or another standard type (bibliography, foot/end notes and title do not count as part of the total).

d) Essays must have the title and competitors name written clearly, with pages stapled together.
