Big Data - Analysing and presenting the data.

In this week's lesson we will be analysing some data all about crime in Leicestershire.

Please open the Excel spreadsheet you saved last week. It is the one below.

Save this file

Using the video below present the most common crimes in Leicestershire as a Bar chart. Your work will look something like the one below. MAKE sure you format your chart with labels and appropriate axis scales.

Do not forget to duplicate the data as you will use the same data for all three queries. We will do these over the next 3 weeks.

1. Duplicate and rename the sheet Most common crimes in Leicestershire.

IMPORTANT CLICK ON CELL A1 AND THEN CLICK ON THE FILTER TAB. This will put filters on all the fields.

2. Apply filters to show only (Police Force area) Leicestershire, and for dates in 2018. (in the date filter add in equals 31/12/2018

3. Select the data for the Crimes and also for frequency. Click on Insert and select bar Chart.

4.  Do not forget to label the chart add a chart title and to also apply appropriate axis.

Create a new presentation in OneDrive called Analysing Data

5. Snip the chart  and put it  into your  presentation called Analysing Data. Explain your findings.

It should look something like this.
