Springboard to Politics (2020)

WELCOME to Politics!!

As you will all be aware by now, Politics is taught by Miss Jenkins and Mr Dawkins, both of whom are subject specialists who have enthusiastically taught this dynamic subject for many years to great success. Both of whom have also written and published externally for A level, students, in addition to having years of exam board marking experience (indeed Miss J remains a Senior Examiner for Edexecel - the board we use).

The key object of this page is to welcome you and for you to be able to access any resources that we may want you to access over the coming weeks.

Whilst we will be communicating with you via Teams for these 'springboard/intro' sessions , as you can see this Politics section on Firefly will be crucial for you all in the years to come. It exists primarily as the central deposit of all our resources for the department. We therefore encourage you to spend some time 'rooting around' in it before September in order to familiarise yourself with the wide range of materials available (NB. Many of the links on the left hand list have further sections embedded in them).

What you put into this A level will absolute determine what you get out of it!!

Get beyond the narrators monotone voice and the vid below is worth watching for some political context:                                                                                                                   (Clearly made in January 2020, there's a classic line right near the end when 'Mr Personality' says "... whatever happens, it will be interesting..." Given subsequent events this has got to be one of the biggest understatements EVER!!

Feel the Force: below is an overview of the Assessment Objectives & some Command Words. These are not really required for this intro course (although the Command Words maybe useful), but they are included here to enable you to familiarise yourself with them now - as a clue to how you can all be A graders in the future!!
